Captivity is the early pioneer era romance that will capture your heart.
Carrie is one of the colonists who had come to the New World with her family, in search of a Godly life.
In the fall, she is taken captive by natives at the western edge of the Massachusetts colony.
Weeks go by and no one rescues her. She feels forgotten and alone. She falls ill. Delirious with fever, all she wants is to die, but the natives nurse her back to health.
Throughout the spring and summer, they are constantly on the move. It is a life of great hardship, but also of joy and tenderness. Gradually she learns to see beauty in what used to terrify her, and she learns to love in a way she never knew possible.
