In the summer leading to high school, a bb gun accident ignites a thirteen year-old boy's fascination with his mortality, while propelling him into the orbit of a band of rebellious upperclassmen. As his mother's breakup from an abusive boyfriend forces her to work overtime, his newfound freedom exposes a world that is more complex, more painful, and more human than he's equipped to handle.
