In Sufism (Islamic Mysticism), there is a phenomenon referred to as Annihilation in Allah, a state in which a person releases himself from the false reality of his ego, and manifests his True Self. Giving up ego-driven desires and showing equanimity in the face of changing circumstances one ascends to the level of a 'servant of Allah', reaching the station of divine pleasure.

Essentially Sufism is based on the reality that everything and everyone in the corporeal worlds is the manifestation of the One, and so everyone in terms of their essence, is comprised of the Divine Names, the very qualities and attributes constituting existence. Looking at things from this angle all judgments, criticisms, labels and tags are dropped and only the One is observed. Everything in existence becomes a mirror, reflecting the innumerous qualities of Allah.
