He moved to London in 1988, studied Librarianship at the University of London, and lived in London for 10 years thereafter, during which time he began writing poetry seriously. He later lived in California, from 1999-2003, but is now once aghain based in London. He holds British, American, and Canadian citizenships, something which hje says "has given me a very strange sense of home".
