Charlotte and Henry Logan, and Harriet and George Jones, have been neighbours for many years. Their children grew up and went to university together, and they thought that their lives were quite normal. But then something happened.
"Well! I think we should try and open up our husbands to these ideas. We don't want them clamping up at the party. We know how men can hang on to fixed beliefs even when there is evidence of a benefit from change.
"I've got a plan that will change them, at least in part."
"And your plan is?"
"You and I are going to swap husbands for a night. We both know that this will lead to change of some sort. Hopefully, when we get to the party, George and Henry will fearlessly embrace the idea of swinging."
