Susie's Miracle the Inspiration Behind Susie's Law 2nd edition

Second Edition
Author Donna Lawrence has added more true stories to her motivational, inspiring true story of courage, love, and forgiveness. The book, Susie's Miracle, is a heartwarming account of how an abandoned, abused, and burned puppy brought healing, trust, and forgiveness to Donna. Ultimately the puppy, Donna, and Susie's Team spearheaded a statewide movement that led to the passage of Susie's Law, North Carolina legislation to help prevent cruelty to animals.
Donna's story began in 2008 when she survived a brutal attack by a pit bull. One year later, she had healed physically but still feared dogs and had recurrent nightmares. She met Susie and instantly fell in love with the brave puppy. When Susie had first been discovered in a Greensboro park in August 2009, she had been on the brink of death. Susie had been beaten, severely burned, and abandoned to die. The puppy had a broken jaw, missing teeth, major portions of her ears missing, and second- and third-degree burns. Together, Donna and Susie taught one another to love, respect, and trust again. Through their inspiring journey, both victims of horrific abuse became victorious, forgiving survivors. They led a journey of hope that eventually took them to the unanimous passage of Susie's Law that provided for stiffer penalties for those who abuse or neglect their animals.
Susie's Miracle is an inspiration to people of all ages. Its message is about getting a second chance at life and running full speed ahead with it. Its theme resounds with love, hope, and forgiveness. This true story is a motivational example of how one person--or even one animal--can make a profound, positive difference in our world. This chapter book, written for children in the third to seventh grades, has been beautifully designed by Jennifer Tipton Cappoen.
