syn-the-sis noun \?sin(t)-th?-s?s\

plural syn-the-ses \?sin(t)-th?-?s?z\

3 b : the combination of separate elements of sensation or thought into a whole (as of simple into complex conceptions or of species into genera)

Normally, we do not extend this definition into both elements of sensation and thought, even when associating the definition to human organisms. When I see the definition extended into the realm of thought, often it is constrained to ideas and the sound argument of logical thinking, but I find the extension into the realm of literal thought interesting. Applying it even further into the synthesis of two individuals does have its uses, such as defining synesthesia, but the actual physical combination of sensation and thought between two individuals is not something usually applied to humans. Applying to a hive species has some uses, but attaching it to humans almost alters the definition of human itself.
