Basic Hand Sewing is an illustrated book for kids (ages 6 & up recommended) and adults of all ages who want to learn (and remember!) how to sew by hand with a needle and thread. It includes illustrated basic steps for threading a needle, tying a knot before sewing, different types of stitches, and ending stitches with a knot. Several methods are shown for knots, so readers can choose their favorite. Includes three full-color photo mini-booklets that can be cut out and connected for a quick reference at home and school; these booklets were originally created for a choice-based elementary art classroom. Students in grades 2-5 have used these materials to review and learn to sew on their own. Some beginner project ideas are also included with full-color photos. Basic Hand Sewing utilizes text and visuals for all learners to access. A fun, basic introduction to the world of fiber arts and sewing!
