William Edward Hartpole Lecky
William Edward Hartpole Lecky, (1838-1903) was an Irish historian and publicist. Lecky devoted himself to the chief work of his life, A History of England during the Eighteenth Century, which he completed in 1890. In The Map of Life published in 1899 Lecky discusses in a popular style some of the ethical problems, which arise in everyday life. Lecky devotes chapters to happiness, morals, moral compromises in law - politics - and life, character, money, marriage, success, time management, and death.
