Alone at the Helm: Life After the Loss of Your Partner
Lawrence Martin
Lawrence ?Larry? Martin was born and raised in Europe in a French American family. He met his wife, Vicki, in Heidelberg, Germany, where her father was stationed by the US Army. Larry and Vicki married in 1977 after moving to the United States to attend the University of Maryland. After earning a master?s degree in reproductive physiology in 1981, Larry embarked on a twentyfive-year career as an international marketing director for several cattle genetics companies. In early 2006, Larry changed careers, joining his wife in the lending and real estate industries in order to spend more time at home. Tragically, Vicki succumbed a year later to the ?silent killer,? ovarian cancer, leaving Larry alone at the helm.
Larry lives in the little town of Hughson, California. He continues to remain home to provide moral and physical support for his three adult children while defi nitely enjoying his two grandchildren. Larry is an avid writer. He is a regular columnist for his local newspaper and currently working on several books including his memoirs as a globe-trotting sperm merchant.
