Publisher Marketing: The Staine Legacy is a powerful suspense thriller. Its central characters are General Wagner, from the closing moments of World War II; and Bill Russell, a treasurer hunter on the trail of a fortune almost fifty years after the war. Near the end of World War II, Heinrich Himmler ordered that the last of the looted gold from Europe to be moved out of Berlin before the Soviets captured the city. Himmler assigned General Wagner the task of developing a plan to get the gold out of Germany. The gold was to be used to rebuild the Fourth Reich. General Wagner was one of the best strategic planners in the German Army, but he had no intentions of letting the Fourth Reich have access to this wealth. As Berlin is encircled by the Soviets, Wagner suddenly finds a woman more important to him than the entire Nazi treasure. He struggles to convince her to join him in leaving Germany. Under Wagner's orders, a convoy carrying tons of gold and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of jewelry and precious stones made it out of the Reichsbank in Berlin. Struggling to avoid both the Soviet and Allied armies, the convoy carefully moves through Southern Europe, but does not make it to its intended destination in South America. Forty-seven years later a determined man faces incredible obstacles in his hunt for the lost treasure. Bill Russell and his college classmate must contend with a corrupt government in western Africa, a murderous African warlord, and Nazi thugs from South America. The lives of both General Wagner and those seeking the treasure are intertwined when they face a new threat from the Fourth Reich. As the Nazi movement seeks to destabilize the US Government, Wagner and the treasure hunters must work together to find a solution that benefits all of mankind.
