A New God for Our Time describes the gap between what the author has heard all his life from the pulpit of both Catholic and Protestant churches and what he learned in his seven-year effort to understand the history of religion and the development of the Bible. What our preachers know but don't tell us is the underlying theme. In the course of his studies Maloney became convinced that the gods are pretty much all the same and that it is time to admit that we created them, not the other way around. A New God for Our Time lets the reader share what he has learned in his quest - about the gods, the holy books, and the quest of today's seekers to replace them.
