Long Creek (Illustrated ) is the story of a 5 -6 year old as he discovers about life in general and certain unexpected life experiences. Come along with Pudd on his journey. As you read Long Creek, keep in mind that you are listening to a young child as he shares his thoughts and attempts to tell you in some detail what he is experiencing. Pudd uses the vernacular common to those raised in the country. His naiveté at times may cause you to frown or even question his sense of reality. His account of his experiences may cause you to laugh and at times may cause you to be sad or even make you cry. Pudd's has difficulty learning to read when he starts to school as a result of his being severely dyslexic. Because little was known about dyslexia back then and his father being the principal of Long Creek School, his struggles to learn his letters, as well as, other issues is disconcerting for him, to say the least. His two brothers, H B Jr. and Mayo are some 15 years older than he. Mayo keeps Pudd going through some of his difficult times, while his other brother, H B Jr., delights in teasing him unmercifully. Pudd's story of perseverance and his belief that he has a guarding angel watching over him will be a delightful read for both children and adults.
