Professor Nate Thomas is feeling the pressures of life cave in around him and his anguish builds as he tries to maintain his composure. His family feels isolated and his teaching suffers. He is no longer intrigued by his work and life is now mundane. He lives in the sleepy town of Bellhaven nestled between the rising mountains of Virginia where nothing happens. His life as well as the neighborhood is drastically changed forever when he receives that telephone call, "Daddy, Megan is missing!" The neighborhood bonds together but Nate Thomas is left with some questions, "Who took Megan?" "Who will be next?" and "What can he do to prevent it from happening?"
