The city of Moilana braces itself for a final desperate battle. But even before Cravell's feared Black Dragons appear things begin to go badly wrong. Clans are turning against one another, hatchlings are being attacked and the city's leaders seem neither concerned or inclined to prevent it. The Four must find a way to save the city from itself before Cravell launches his attack or there will be no hope at all of saving it from Cravell. Then there is the small matter of preventing him from attacking Human World with his Black Dragons. Robby, Frenzel, Abigail and Dimble are pushed to their limits and beyond.
