So, when what seems a fairly low-key comedy festival hurls the city back into the international spotlight with a spectacularly staged gruesome murder, involving a clown mask, a tammy, fake handcuffs and the traffic-cone topped giant statue of the Duke of Wellington in Glasgow city centre, Inspector Luke Tomlinson and his small band find themselves chasing shadows in what seems like a motiveless crime. Then a second brutal killing focuses their attention on Glasgow's showbiz stalwarts and a terrible secret kept hidden for forty years. The drama unfolds around famous Glasgow landmarks but this is no travelogue, more a rough guide to our dear green place and those rougher guides who inhabit it.
