The Bronze Hand

Aman decides to help a woman he barely knows after hearing her cry out in distress, apparently a ring has been stolen from her. She enigmatically fears that it may have been placed on the middle finger of a bronze hand locked in a box in a doctor's surgery, and asks the man to find out. He is baffled, yet he agrees to the bizarre undertaking to gain her affections... A short and well-written mystery story from an early pioneer of the form, with a plot full of twists and intrigue.
