The Attributes of God
Arthur W. Pink
In this book Arthur W. Pink has made an effort to set forth some of the principal perfections of the Divine nature as they are revealed in the Bible. He is also faithful to point out the difference between an intellectual knowledge of God and a spiritual, saving knowledge of God. Pink explains that the foundation of a true knowledge of God is a clear mental apprehension of Him as He is revealed in Holy Scripture, but he also explains why man needs something more than an intellectual knowledge. The God of the Bible is supernatural and can only be known supernaturally. The God of the Bible is spirit and can only be known spiritually. But man, by nature, is neither supernatural nor spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:14). Consequently, the Bible tells us that God can only be known by those to whom He makes himself known, "no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him." (Matthew 11:27).
