Stafford County is located on the Northern Neck of Virginia and was formed in 1666 from Westmoreland County. Overwharton Parish, according to the author, was co-extensive with Stafford County, and included the present counties of Alexandria, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, and Prince William.
