The Essentials of Prayer
Edward M. Bounds
Pray, Pray and Pray some more! God loves it and the Devil hates it. Prayer is you communicating with God. It's not an activity to take lightly or dabble with when you feel like it. Prayer takes focus, it involves you in your entirety, your mind, soul and spirit. And as you learn to incorporate all of you in prayer you will begin to find it is a natural and enjoyable endeavor. In Essentials of Prayer E. M. Bounds describes how every Christian can maintain a prayer life that produces results both personally and in the kingdom of God. He leads you in the development of prayer so that you may experience the power of prayer in your daily life. Edward McKendree Bounds was a clergyman of the Methodist Episcopal Church South and author of eleven books, nine of which focused on the subject of prayer. Bounds was a practicing lawyer at age nineteen and after three years, began preaching for the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. At the time of his pastorate in Brunswick, Missouri, war was declared. Bounds became a prisoner of war after refusing to take the oath of allegiance to the Federal Government. Upon release he served as chaplain of the Fifth Missouri regiment until the close of the war.
