The Deep End & To Watch by Night

Armchair Fiction presents extra large editions of classic science fiction double novels. The first novel is a Lovecraftian-style science fantasy, "The Deep End" by Armchair Fiction editor, Gregory Luce. There were monsters in the watery depths. It was a summer day, 1965. On the surface everything seemed normal. A nice family pool on a hot day with dozens of children and adults splashing about. There were college and high school students on the prowl, too, looking for attractive members of the opposite sex--and none was more attractive than the new female lifeguard in the two-piece swimming suit. She sat beautifully atop her observation chair watching the events in the watery playground. But there was something strange about Graybill's swimming pool, and even more so with Jacob's Pond, which lay beyond it. A number of kids had drowned in the pond years before and now strange things were happening in the pool. It all started coming to a head when a young boy was pulled from the pool in hysterics. Something had grabbed him by the leg... The second novel is Robert Moore Williams' "To Watch by Night." There were monsters in the darkness! It was odd that a big city newspaper like the Chicago Globe would send out two of its best reporters to investigate a hen house slaughter and the mysterious appearance of a naked man in a farmer's field. Nevertheless, Don Reed and Nita Ayer were sent packing to the wilds of Wisconsin to cover the story. Upon their arrival they found a farmer who was hesitant to talk--seemingly afraid of someone or some thing. Then at the local jail there was the strange 19-year old who couldn't even speak English, who didn't have a stitch of clothing to his name, who seemed to want to stay in jail. But when the youth turned up dead, the story took a horrifying turn into the unknown. Soon, out of the darkness of the night came an unbelievable man with a crystal; and out of that same darkness came a terrifying power...
