Beneath the Dust of Slover Mountain

The saga begins in the early years of the 20th Century when the Terrazas family fled the turmoil of the Mexican Revolution of 1910, after the death of the family patriarch, and ventured into New Mexico Territory (before it became a state of the USA). Shortly after, she married Louis GoÌmez I. Louis II was born in 1915, but months later, his father was killed in a gunfight.

Liborio Salazar and his family of four left Guachinango, Jalisco and entered the State of Arizona in 1921 searching for a better life, but he also met a violent death. Thereafter, his widowed wife, Victoria, married Estanislao RamiÌrez, and the new family moved to Colton, California.

Louis GoÌmez II and Maria Salazar met in Colton, eloped and were married. Louis III and his sister, Jennie were the offspring of that union.

Beneath the Dust of Slover Mountain is the unlikely but remarkable story of Ambrosio GoÌmez Y Salazar (Louis III, aka Luis) and what it was like growing up and living during the 1940s through the beginning of the current century.
