The School Collection

This collection of plays by Jon Jory, American theatre legend and founder of the Humana Festival of New Plays, focuses on work to be performed by high schools and colleges. Three plays (Halibut High, Highlife, and Superhero Town) may either be performed as full-length plays or separated into one-acts for competition purposes, each act its own separate short play. HALIBUT HIGH: Lives intersect, personalities clash, and the hopes and dreams of students are given voice in this look at what lies beyond the stereotypes of the kids at Halibut High. HIGHLIFE: Students bond over pajama parties, fast food, and sports as they prepare to take the big leap up to college. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST: A new adaptation of the Oscar Wilde classic comedy that expands opportunities for actresses. THE SECRETS OF WILDEST NEVERLAND: A hilariously irreverent look at the world of Peter Pan and the parts of Neverland nobody ever talks about. SHERLOCK HOLMES, SLEUTH, MEETS FATHER BROWN, DETECTIVE: Intuition meets deduction as Sherlock Holmes and the priestly amateur detective Father Brown team up to investigate the suspicious death of a prison guard. SUPERHERO TOWN: Take off their capes, and the mundane suburban lives of superheroes can be such a drag.
