Paul's letter to the Galatians addressed the racism, classism, and sexism of his time with the immortal words "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female in Christ, for we are all one in the Lord." Playwright Mark Teagle tells the story behind these words and updates the setting to 1950's America. The small group of Jewish and Gentiles in the church at Iconium are doing just fine. That is until Matthias and Joseph arrive from Jerusalem and tell the Gentile converts to start following the Jewish Law, including circumcision. The community is forced to wrestle with what it really means to be followers of Jesus. Finally a letter arrives from Paul telling the "Foolish Galatians" that the "Law can't justify you" and more. This musical is a fun take on the story of one of the most influential parts of the New Testament, filled with laughter and tears. It might just make the New Testament enjoyable!
