Reclamation Street
Jonathan Tucker
This novel tells the compelling story of a young man's life between the ages of about twenty and twenty-five, first as an aspiring RAF pilot and then as a detective inspector in the Royal Hong Kong Police. His dreams, his disappointments, his adventures and misadventures, his search for life's purpose and meaning and his ultimate need for an affirmation of his own humanity are all part of the tale. The book's themes are intended to resonate with all of us and the events described are, by turns satirical, outrageous, raw, poignant and contemplative. Jonathan Tucker is the author of 'The Silk Road: Art and History', 'The Silk Road: China and the Karakorum Highway', 'The Silk Road: Central Asia, Afghanistan and Iran' and 'The Troublesome Priest: Harold Davidson, Rector of Stiffkey'. He has been an R. A. F. pilot, a police detective in Hong Kong and ran a jewellery and Asian art business in the Marianas Islands in the Pacific. A former associate director of the Indian and Southeast Asian department at Spink and Son, he has operated a gallery in St James's, London since 2000. He is a recognised authority in the field of Indian and Southeast Asian art, particularly sculpture and has explored the entire length of the Silk Road with the exception of Iraq.
