This ebook is based on c. 100-110 work by Publius Cornelius Tacitus 'The Histories'. Written c. 100-110, originally twelve or fourteen books in length, the Histories survive to the extent of the first four and a portion of the fifth, covering the 'Year of the Four Emperors' A. D. 69, following the downfall of Nero, as Galba was overthrown by Otho, Otho by Vitellius, and finally, Vitellius by Vespasian; and some months of A. D. 70.
The later books, which originally covered the remaining part of Vespasian's reign, 69-79, and those of his sons Titus, 79-81, and Domitian, 81-96, (the Flavian Dynasty), have not survived.
