Federal Prosecutor Steven Lancaster wanted to end his career with a guilty verdict against a notorious drug dealer for murder. The victim's father, Joe Reed became friends with Lancaster during the three years leading up to the trial. When it was over, Joe and his former SEAL friend Paul Dos Santos, learned for the first time, that Lancaster's father was murdered by a cartel some 30 years prior, yet justice was never achieved against those responsible. Why? Because Lancaster had a secret he couldn't tell anyone about. Not ready to completely retire, Lancaster interviews for a couple interesting positions, accepting an offer to serve as a legal adviser for the government of Israel. Experiencing an overwhelming amount of immigration applications for citizenship due to the DNA findings of WhoWeR, an American ancestor identification company, Israel is in desperate need to expand their territory and acquire more land. Where would they find this land? Russia was an option. Specifically the Jewish Autonomous Oblast region of Birobidzhan, located in Siberia just north of the Chinese border and east of the Pacific Ocean. Created in 1934 by Joseph Stalin, Birobidzhan was actually several years before Israel was established by the United Nations. While the population of Birobidzhan has decreased tremendously since the early 1990's, Yiddish is still considered it' official language and his home to the largest menorah the world. Simultaneously and unbeknownst to Lancaster, Joe and Paul are off to South America seeking retribution on Lancaster's behalf. Will they find those responsible for this horrible assassination? Where will their paths take them? What will they do?Meanwhile, will Lancaster learn there is something odd about his new Israeli-Russian friend Michael Demsky? Does the possibility of Israel becoming closer to the Russian government at the expense of the United States bother Lancaster? Is Lancaster somehow being used or setup? Does it make sense for Israel and Russia to strike a deal? Will Lancaster during his Israeli/ Russian land negotiation somehow cross paths with Joe and Paul? While Retribution and the Birobidzhan Option, is the sequel to Heroes or Despicable Scoundrels? it is not a required prerequisite reading to figure out what is going on.
