Commentary on the Book of the Prophet Isaiah - Volume II
John Calvin
Continuing on starting at chapter seventeen, Calvin goes through and gives the meaning of the text with such clarity that scholars are still marvelled at how Calvin's thinking process outweighed all in his time. The text continues with the judgement upon Babylon then the book of Isaiah moves to one of the heavier sections of the entire prophecy in dealing with the Isaiah's foretold apocalypse in chapters twenty-four to twenty-seven. Then the commentary continues in condemning the wayward Israelites of its sins and also condemning all those around God's nation as they sought alliances to fend off the coming Assyrians. Calvin cuts off this commentary a few chapters shy of the Hezekiah story but leads up to it with such force that it cannot be denied his ingenuity when it came to Biblical commentaries.
