Strabo was a Greco-Roman geographer and historian who lived from the 7th century BC to 24 AD. His only surviving book, Geographica, is an essential source on the ancient world, including geographical, anthropological, economic and historical information. The present volume contains English translations of the chapters from the Geographica that focus on the ancient Near East, encompassing the areas included in modern Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Israel, Cyprus, Iran and Iraq. This edition includes several new maps that contextualize the region of focus, and key locations, of each chapter.
