NOT WORTH THAT MUCH

It starts with Bug and Roche being called up to investigate a late night car accident. A guy named Claude Farrady is t-boned in his Buick and his gas tank explodes. The body is too badly burned to determine whether the accident killed him, or the fire. But Royal Insurance has a Key Personnel policy on him for five million.

The payer on the policy is Brotherhood Mutual. They want National, the company that Bug and Roche work for, to check it out because this is the third Key Personnel policy they've paid out to Royal this year.

When they visit Royal, everything looks legit. But when they visit Mr. Farraday's widow, they get a quick brush-off. It turns out that Claude is her third husband. Every three years she marries a new man, and every three years her new husband suddenly dies. Coincidence? Maybe. But it's up to Bug and Roche to find out if husband number three's death is the unfortunate accident it appears to be, or if perhaps they have a black widow on their hands...

Plus, something is fishy in the pharmaceutical business in MONEY IS THE DRUG OF CHOICE, the second Bug & Roche mystery is this double volume of criminous commotion from Wilson Toney!
