Livin' In Mexico

What's it like living in Mexico? It seems like a simple enough question; often asked, rarely well answered. Because Mexico is much more than just a warm sunny climate where you can beach every day if you want. For many, Mexico is hope. It's hope for a less complicated, simpler life, hope that every day has the potential to be the best day you've ever had. It's as much about what it represents; the freedoms, the leisures, endless summer, romance, walking the dogs off leash on the seashore at sunset. Mexico is as much a feeling as it is a place. That's what Mexico really is. Mexico is where tired hopes and dreams get a shot at coming true. How does it feel to live in Mexico is the question the author answers in this tale of expats, desperados, pirates, romance, Facebook (and the perils thereof), Mexico as Heaven and dead bankers bringing you beers, and the colorful characters who make a life where the sun shines bright. The second part of this book creates, describes, outlines, and outright lives five real-world budgets, from $500. to $2500 USD a month. It is intended to guide you, inform you, and price the cost of living across a number of different ways of life in Mexico, depending on budget. It starts monthly expenses beginning at $500 USD, and tops out at $2500 USD, creating detailed plans every $500 up. Why is there so much contradictory information online about costs? What do I need to know before making the move? And when I have made the move, how do I get the maximum benefit from the dollars available? Find a house, not get ripped off, where to shop, what to avoid? These are just some of the questions this book answers. From the author: Everyone is selling something, I'm just selling this book. If you've read any of my other books on Mexico, you know what to expect from this one. It will be the plain, unvarnished, nothin-but-de-truth truth. There will likely be some scary one star reviews from people who make a good living in Mexico off of what you don't know, but we're not going to gloss over anything to avoid ruffling feathers (which of course we will), we're just going to be real. Because Mexico is real, and if you get that, if you live that, you can't help but be real yourself. I couldn't put this book down. I loved every minute of it. I had been thinking about to Belize or somewhere else in Central america for quite some time, but I never even considered Mexico. Through the pages of Brian's book, I was transformed by first hand accounts of what life is like in Mexico. Forget all the internet research. Reading this book is All I needed to make an informed decision on whether or not I'll ever take the plunge and move there. One thing is for sure. I definitely want to visit and vacation there after reading his book! -You either get the Yucatán, or you don't. If you want to embrace it for what it is instead of trying to turn it into what you are escaping, then you will like this book. -Living in Chelem, I loved the descriptions of the areas around us and found it very well written and accurate as well. The different types of "us, expats" living here was pretty hilarious, since most of us can be part of a few of them without the need of being offended. He captured the Yucateca spirit so well! Very easy read and loved the humor! -Thank you for the direct and honest info and personal experience. See you in Progresso brother !Great book to read!-My only complaint It was too short! Really enjoyed it...-Very informative.-I gave this gem five stars because it is so close to the bone I couldn't give it fewer. This is a great yarn, funny and accurate. If you live in México or want to, read this. You're in it! -An excellent write. Was Unable to put it down. An easy read. A great read. The author has a wonderful way with words. I recommend this rating as someone who has also fallen in love with Mexico. Brian's voice is raw and real.
