Physical Layer Model Design for Wireless Network Yi Yu
Physical Layer Model Design for Wireless Network
Yi Yu
The increased interest in wireless network design and cross-layer design require an accurateand efficient physical layer model especially when a large number of nodes are to be studied and building the real network is not possible. For analysis of upper layer characteristics, a simplified physical layer model has to be chosen to model thephysical layer otherwise the analysis will be too complicated and thus become intractable. In this dissertation, the widely used two-state Markov model is studied and shown to be deficient in many scenarios. Improved two-state run length model and four-state Markov model are designed and demonstrated to achieve accurate network results. Furthermore, the parameters of the proposed models can be set up analytically instead of having to run extensive simulations before setting up the model.
