Digital signal processors (DSPs) are essential for real-time processing of digitized data and performing the high-speed numeric calculations necessary to enable a broad range of application areas such as wireless communications, audio and video, etc. This technical write up gives implementation of motion detection algorithm in Blackfin BF533 processor board and MATLAB. The different computation of Sigma-Delta motion detection algorithm like Background Subtraction, Motion likelihood measure, variance which is defined as the Sigma-Delta mean of N times the non-zero differences, motion computation by comparing between the difference and the variance is implemented. The performance is compared between the algorithm implementation on the BF533EZKitLite and MATLAB simulation. The flowchart representation for the design is implemented. The two images are captured by using digital CCD camera interface with a Blackfin BF533 processor is taken and Sigma-Delta motion detection algorithm is implemented, and the status whether motion is detected or not is displayed.
