The Marsh Princess Sofie Couch
The Marsh Princess
Sofie Couch
Fenn Shores pulls into her mother's hometown in the middle of a Christmas Eve-Eve snowstorm. There, she is befriended by a kind dishwasher who can corroborate the tall tales Fenn's mother told her about the magical small coastal town. There is the story of Circe Brew, the proprietress of Brew's Cafe who returns to an embittered food critic, his sense of taste and smell. The dishwasher retells the story of a very private librarian who gives a home to a writer looking for a quiet space in which to weave his magic. And Fenn learns that her own grandmother may have played a very important role in the balance of the marshland. Through the tales, Fenn learns about the reason for her mother's estrangement from her parents but finds something more in understanding her own place in this magical community.
