Can the Sinner Do Anything to be Saved?
Archie Brown
It is 1903, and J. R. Bradley has just finished listening to a sermon by Baptist preacher, Archie Brown. In that sermon, Brown earnestly requested that if anyone could find something wrong with his teachings, that they let him know so he could better serve the Lord. J. R. Bradley went home, and expressed in a letter his concerns with the sermon he heard, and sent it to the preacher. That exchange (five letters from each writer) focused on the all-important question of salvation: Can the Sinner Do Anything to be Saved?
J. R. Bradley (1846-1923), elder in the church of Christ, studied under T. B. Larrimore, and spent his preaching career in Tennessee and Alabama.
Archie Brown (1859-1937), Primitive Baptist preacher, was once co-editor of the Church Advocate.
