The husband and wife of The Light of Your Left Eye and Star Mouth go on walks and adventures. They experience the flower blooms of Spring, shooting stars, a rainbow, and the most incredible birthdays of 2020. They dream of an empty ancient theater and their perfect marriage relationship. Two new characters, Thom and Lily, enter this novel. Also husband and wife, Thom and Lily are children's book authors. On vacation in a city, they discuss ideas for their new children's book. Hiking, visiting gardens and museums, dining in restaurants and bars, meeting two novelist friends, Thom and Lily discuss many story ideas for their new children's book. They spend much of their conversations telling each other the possible stories, similar to short fairytales. The novel is fast-paced, even with dense metaphors and allegorical children's stories about the meaning of life, thoughts of God, and questions about the reality and purpose of the Universe. The husband and wife's relationship, and Thom and Lily's, grows as the novel progresses. The four characters travel around the Universe and beyond into dream.
