When they discover their national park is to be opened to the public for the first time, the elite Sky Squadron Bird Academy conducts an open recruitment drive. Unfortunately, they didn't anticipate the arrival of a bunch of misfits, which includes a very determined and optimistic emu, Errol. Errol has wanted to fly all his life and thinks the Sky Squadron can teach him. In enrolling, Errol risks banishment from his emu community. He must pass. During his training, Errol meets new friends and encounters new enemies; but also learns much more than he ever could have imagined.
