Belfast - A film by Kenneth Branagh
OSCAR WINNER 2022: Best Original Screenplay Kenneth Branagh's biographical drama, Belfast, takes us back to the late summer of 1969 and tells the story of working class life in 1960s Belfast through the story of a young boy and his family. The Northern Ireland capital was at this time marked by regular clashes between the Catholic and Protestant groups, so it has been a far from an idyllic childhood to grow up in. The film is without comparison Kenneth Branagh's most personal to date as it is based on his growing up. But despite the dark background narrative that characterizes the film, it is also characterized by humor and warmth portrayed through the close-knit family. The young protagonist is played by the talented Jude Hill, while Jamie Dornan and the legend Judi Dench also have prominent roles.
