Meat Puppets
Emerging on the burgeoning SST label in the 80's, the Meat Puppets were hugely influential on the underground indie-rock scene. Merging influences from rock, folk, punk, blues, and country, the Kirkwood brothers cemented a style all of their own, and stood apart from the fast punk stylings of their contemporaries. As the band continued into the 90's their reputation was sealed when Nirvana burst into the mainstream with a sound that appropriated many of the Meat Puppets sounds and vocal inflections. Included here is extensive concert footage of the band, including appearances supporting Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots, an acoustic show from New York's Knitting Factory, extensive interviews with the band, and testimonials from such luminaries as Thurston Moore, Mike Watt, Flea, and Paul Leary.
