Koen Kessels conducts the Royal Opera House Orchestra and Chorus in this performance of choreographer Liam Scarlett's ballet. Federico Bonelli portrays Victor Frankenstein, whose mother dies in childbirth as he departs for university. Determined to find a way of reviving her, Victor studies hard, and eventually succeeds but rebuffs his creation (Steven McRae), disgusted with himself.
Years later, Victor has continued with his life and is due to marry childhood sweetheart Elizabeth (Laura Morera), but the creature has remained in his shadow, pining for acceptance.
