Scott Stewart's supernatural thriller LEGION, scripted by Peter Schink, concerns a group of strangers in an out-of-the-way eatery who become the first line of defence when God, believing the human race is no longer worthy of Him, decides to end their existence. This motley crew's only spiritual ally is the archangel Michael, played by Paul Bettany. Descended to earth and after having cut off his angelical wings, Michael raids a police warehouse to stock up on weapons. Shortly after he reveals himself to a disparate group of people, gathered by chance at a desolate roadside diner. Bob Hanson (Dennis Quaid), the owner, together with his son Jeep (Lucas Black), Charly, a pregnant waitress (Adrianne Palicki), a cook (Charles S. Dutton), a single father driving by (Tyrese Gibson) and a married couple (Jon Tenney and Kate Walsh) will soon find out that they represent the only chance of survival for mankind. Or at least this is what Michael says, while also confessing that he, himself, is in fact betraying GodÆs orders. The Lord had originally sent him to kill CharlyÆs son, the designated leader of human resistance against GodÆs destructive plans. Gradually persuaded of menÆs inherent good nature, the archangel switches sides; becoming determined to help humanity survive at all costs.
