They Were Sisters

James Mason stars in this melodrama featuring three sisters who all have very different experiences of marriage. Lucy (Phyllis Calvert) marries a kind man, but loses a child and struggles to hold her family together. Vera (Anne Crawford) has a ball as a self-absorbed philanderer who scarcely notices her own child and prefers the occasional young stud to her boring husband.

Charlotte (Dulcie Gray) is the most sensitive sister who marries the brutal and intimidating Geoffrey (Mason).
