Randall Goosby
The rising star violinist Randall Goosby releases his debut album "Roots" - a tribute to the pioneers of music who paved the way for him; inspired by the African American culture and its musicians. The album presents music by the well-known composer Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson and world premiere recordings of the works of Florence Price, the first African-American woman whose music was performed by a large US orchestra in 1933. The repertoire offers further highlights with a new arrangement of George Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess" penned by Jascha Heifetz and the "Sonatina" by the Czech composer Antonín Dvorák, which is inspired by spirituals and the melodies of the natives of North America.
With his sparkling enthusiasm for the violin, Randall Goosby wants to show young people that music can inspire regardless of their origin. With the release of Roots, he pays tribute to the immense influence of the works of black and female composers in the last century: a homage to their lives, their experiences and their dedication to creating this art.
