Orquesta Aragon
Orquesta Aragon are the most popular charanga band hailing from Cuba. Their distinctive sound is based on traditional son with it's African rhythm section and Spanish melodies, over which they added three violins. Orquesta Aragon are not only popular as interpreters of son, but are also credited with inspiring the mambo. Originated as Generoso Jimenez's original band, it later became the Orquesta Aragon, run by the two Aragon brothers. They are one of the longest lasting groups of Cuba's musical heritage, renewing themselves constantly fron one generation to the next. They can be heard performing on That Cuban Cha-Cha-Cha and in collaboration with Beny More and Perez Prado on Riverside Years. An indefatigable touring orchestra, if they are performing near you, catch them, you will have a great time.
