You Oughta Quit It
Ann Carter
Recorded in February of 1954 in Chicago and released in May of that same year, gritty R&B vocalist Ann Carter's "You Oughta Quit It" is probably the rarest single from Chicago's Blue Lake label catalog and is highly sought after by collectors and aficionados. Montgomery, Alabama native Carter comes from a musical family; she is the sister of bandleader and bassist Bob Carter who recorded in the mid-to late 1950's for the Specialty label, and the niece of Sonny Carter who worked out of Detroit and recorded for Dot Records. All selections newly remastered.
