Tristan & Isolde (Akt 2 & 3)

Wilhelm Furtwängler's early 1950s

studio recording of Wagner's Tristan and

Isolde on EMI / Columbia remains one of

the finest on the market.

Less well-known is this live recording

from Berlin, 1947, arguably offering a

better conducted performance from the

baton-wielding maestro.

Unfortunately, Act I is lost.

This release, re-mastered from the

original masters of Act II and III in

very good sound, all adds up to a very

precious document indeed!

Starring Ludwig Suthaus as Tristan and

Erna Schlüter, a renowned Elektra who

also sang Mozart, Beethoven and Verdi,

as Isolde.
