Wall of Sacrifices, the
Death in June
A defining album, Wall of Sacrifice is a mixture of folk melodic pieces and futher expanded epic industrialized soundscape tracks, like the 16 minute long title track, along with some 'Might is Right' rantings from icon destroyer Boyd Rice on the track 'Bring in the Night'. Other guests of course include David Tibet and Rose McDowall, at this time major contributors to Douglas Pearce's incarnation. Wall of Sacrifice is probably one of the most important Death In June recordings due to the diversity and uniqueness on rich display. Images and visions of German warriors marching proudly and triumphantly over the Nordland, as well as the entire war victory atmosphere make this a stirring and majestic recording of might and power, especially on the final nine minute track 'Death is a Drummer'. Highly recommended, this is one of my favorite releases from DIJ and marks a glorious end to a era of experimentation before moving into more folk oriented material. World Serpent. 2006.
