After the break-up of his band Transistors, American blues guitarist Melvin Taylor played mostly in clubs on Chicago's West Side, particularly Rosa's Lounge. Few outside Chicago knew who he was, so his two releases on the Evidence label in the 1980s came as a surprise. Taylor is an absolute maximalist, capable of unleashing a torrent of notes at any moment.
