Mantovani & His Orchestra
If you like to be introduced to Mantovani this is a great album to start with and one of the best from his vast repertoire. From the 1930s to the 1960s he sold 60 million records and in 1959 became the first artist to have six albums in the American Top 30 at the same time. In 1954 Mantovani recorded his greatest hit, "Cara Mia", wherein he employed a female choir. Mantovani's first hit in America was in 1951 when he recorded the 1920s ballad "Charmaine" and developed it into a rich and mellifluous orchestral score that instantly became his signature tune.
