Late November sees the release of the new single by Bass Clef, 'Promises', taken from his critically-acclaimed second album 'May The Bridges I Burn Light The Way'). Available only for a short time as a strictly-limited white label pressing, the single’s lead side is a beautiful remix by two heavyweight bass music pioneers ; Appleblim (co-founder of Skull Disco, head of Applepips) and Peverelist (owner of legendary Bristol label Punch Drunk). Together they take 'Promises' into a wonderful six-minute stepper-haze somewhere between Berlin and Bristol, with a deeper-than-deep sub bass, anchored underneath dubbed-out piano and vocal, and a euphoric synth floating through it all. The original album version appears on the flipside, itself a euphorically elastic yet still hauntingly melancholic stand-out track that picked up the lion’s share of radio and club play when ‘May The Bridges…’ was first released late last year, most noteably from Huw Edwards (BBC R1) and Tom Robinson (BBC R6).
